Windows 11 is has some of the simplest tools quietly becoming the most powerful.
Snipping Tool is the perfect example of this.
What used to be a tiny utility for grabbing a quick screenshot has grown into a genuinely impressive all-in-one capture and editing tool.
Yet it still feels wonderfully simple.
No manuals, no tech jargon, no stress.
These days, Snipping Tool can do far more than take a snapshot of your screen.
You can crop, highlight, draw, blur sensitive info, add notes, and save or share the result in seconds.
It feels a bit like having a lightweight photo editor built into Windows.
But here’s where it gets surprisingly clever: Snipping Tool now lets you extract text from anything on your screen. Website, PDF, error message, photo… doesn’t matter.
Highlight it, and like magic, the text is yours to copy. It’s ridiculously handy when something won’t let you copy text normally.
It also has a colour picker, which grabs the exact colour code of anything you point at. Designers love it, but honestly, anyone fiddling with branding, slides or social media will appreciate it.
And our new favourite feature?
Screen recording.
Need to show a colleague how to do something?
Want to document a weird glitch?
Hit record, capture the steps, and share the video.
You can even turn those recordings into GIFs, which is perfect for quick “do it like this” instructions.
What we love most is that the tool hasn’t become complicated. Everything is still a click or two away.
What would make your day easier? Better screenshots, quick videos, or instant text extraction?
